Why small

A guest list you can talk to all evening

A small wedding changes what the day is about. Instead of a receiving line and a seating chart with a hundred names, you get a long table, real conversations and a fire ring where the last ten people stay up until the logs burn down. Many couples tell us the size is the point, not a compromise.

Forest Springs Resort suits that size well. The ceremony site and the lawn feel full with 30 people rather than empty, the Forest Lounge is a natural place for everyone to gather before dinner, and a room block of 10 to 25 rooms keeps the whole group within a short walk of each other.

The shape of the day

Ceremony, dinner and fire ring in one place

A typical small wedding here starts with a late afternoon ceremony under the pines. Guests walk from their rooms; nobody drives. Photos follow along the forest paths while everyone else gathers at the Forest Lounge for beer and wine.

Dinner is on the lawn, catered by a licensed caterer you hire. For a group this size, family-style platters and one long table work beautifully, and our tent (available to rent) covers the table if the forecast turns. As the light goes, the group moves to the fire ring for toasts, stories and whatever music you bring.

Because there is no restaurant on site, some couples skip the catered dinner and book a private room at a restaurant in downtown Eureka Springs, five minutes away, then come back to the fire ring for the rest of the night.

Rooms

Sizing the room block for 20 to 40 guests

Room counts are the part couples most often underestimate, so here is how a typical small wedding fills our 50 rooms. Couples share king rooms, friends and siblings share double queens, and the wedding party gets ready in a suite.

  • 28 king rooms
  • 16 double queen rooms
  • 6 suites with kitchenette and sofa bed
Typical room block by guest count
GuestsRooms usually neededCommon mix
2010 to 126 kings, 4 double queens, 1 suite
3014 to 189 kings, 6 double queens, 1 to 2 suites
4020 to 2513 kings, 8 double queens, 2 suites

Vendors

A short vendor list for a short guest list

The venue covers the ceremony site, the lawn, ceremony and reception furnishings and setup, the beer and wine bar and the fire ring. Couples bring a licensed caterer, a photographer, an officiant, flowers and rentals such as linens or extra lighting; our tent is available to rent from us.

Small weddings often get away with fewer vendors. A florist who does a few arrangements and a bouquet, a photographer for four hours and a caterer serving family style covers most of what a group of 30 needs. We can share names of local vendors who know the property and the drive.

The rest of the weekend

What guests do between the ceremony and checkout

A small wedding weekend has more free time than a large one, and guests use it. The glass forest sauna and cold plunge, red light therapy, the outdoor seasonal pool, pickleball, ping pong and cornhole are all on the property, and the forest trails are open from dawn to dusk.

Downtown Eureka Springs is five minutes away for breakfast, galleries and a walk through the historic streets. Guests flying in land at Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), about an hour from the resort.

Budget and dates

Making a small wedding go further

A smaller guest list frees up the budget for the things guests remember: a good caterer, a photographer for the whole afternoon, a long dinner rather than a short one. Contact us for pricing on your dates; quotes depend on season, day of the week and room count.

Flexible couples get the most choice. Sunday and midweek weddings are easier to place, and spring and early winter dates are quieter than fall, which is the busiest season in Eureka Springs. A Thursday or Sunday wedding also makes it simpler for guests to find rooms in your block.

Send two or three date options with your inquiry and we will tell you which ones work best for a group your size.

Next steps

Choosing between a room block and a buyout

Most small weddings book a room block. If you would rather have every room and the grounds to yourselves, the wedding buyout weekend explains how it works. For fewer than 20 people, the elopement page is a better fit.

The wedding venue hub has the four packages, the sample weekend timeline and the full list of what is included.

FAQ

Small wedding questions

What counts as a small wedding at Forest Springs Resort?

We think of a small wedding, or micro-wedding, as roughly 20 to 40 guests: big enough for a reception and a few toasts, small enough that everyone fits in a room block on site and you talk to every guest.

How many rooms does a small wedding usually need?

A guest list of 20 to 40 usually fills 10 to 25 rooms, since couples share kings and families or friends share double queens. Our 50 rooms are 28 kings, 16 double queens and 6 suites.

Do we have to buy out the whole resort for a small wedding?

No. Most small weddings use a room block, and other guests may be staying at the resort that weekend. If you want the property to yourselves, a full buyout is available; see the wedding buyout page.

How much does a small wedding cost?

Contact us for pricing. Quotes depend on the date, the season, the guest count and how many rooms are in your block. Midweek and off-season dates are usually easier to place.

Where is the reception for a small wedding?

Usually on the lawn after a ceremony under the pines, with the fire ring for the late part of the night. Because the reception is outdoors, our tent, available to rent, is the rain plan.

Can a small wedding have dinner on site?

Yes, through a licensed caterer you hire; we can recommend local ones who know the property. There is no restaurant or catering kitchen at the resort. Some small groups book a private room at a downtown restaurant instead.

What drinks are available?

The Forest Lounge is a beer and wine bar, so the bar for your wedding is beer and wine.

Can kids and dogs come to a small wedding?

Yes. Forest Springs Resort welcomes guests of all ages and has dog-friendly rooms. The pool, lawn games and pickleball court help keep younger guests busy.

Is there Wi-Fi for guests and vendors?

Yes. Every stay includes Wi-Fi via Starlink. Connect on site, no password needed. Speeds are usually strong, but our forest setting means it can slow down or drop briefly. If you have an important meeting, plan a backup (hotspot or cellular).
